Duncan today took part in a Westminster Hall debate on the future of the RNLI and Independent Lifeboat Stations following the Covid-19 outbreak.
He paid tribute to the work of the six lifeboat stations in the North Norfolk constituency: RNLI stations at Wells, Sheringham, Cromer, and Happisburgh; and the independent stations at Mundesley and Sea Palling.
The debate discussed some of the operational and fund-raising challenges lifeboat stations and other voluntary lifesaving organisations have faced during Covid-19, including the requirement for additional PPE, cleaning, and disinfecting; and the shortfall faced in a year where opportunities for fund-raising events and face to face appeals have been very severely limited.
MPs discussed the possibility of a Rescue Boat Fund, designed to reimburse the unanticipated costs of PPE and cleaning equipment.
