Prime Minister Boris Johnson took a moment out of his jam-packed schedule today to receive a special jar of ‘Boris Marmalade’, made by North Walsham resident and Conservative supporter, Rosemary Atkins.
Rosemary explained, “Back in January, I made what I called my Brexit Marmalade, to celebrate – as Boris would say – ‘getting Brexit done’, and what I hoped would be the end of all the arguments. Since then, Boris has had a hard time, dealing with the coronavirus crisis and being ill with it himself. I just wanted to cheer him up so I created my Boris Marmalade.”
Rosemary is one of a growing number of new members of North Norfolk Conservative Association. Tom Herman, NNCA’s Deputy Chair (Membership) said, “We are getting a steady flow of new members – 18 in the last month alone – saying they are joining to show their support for Boris and the government during these challenging times for everyone.”
Duncan Baker, MP for North Norfolk, who presented the marmalade to the Prime Minister, added, “This has been a very serious year, with some very serious challenges for all of us. The government continues to work extremely hard to support the country through coronavirus and beyond. Being Prime Minister through such a difficult time carries an immense amount of responsibility, so it’s good for him to know that he has support and that people care about his welfare too.”
