I raised the situation of the infected blood scandal which has affected some of my constituents. It has been a scandal stemming back many years where patients were infected with HIV and hepatitis C through contaminated blood products imported from the US. It is thought that 2,400 people died. We will never take that pain and suffering away, but it is wholly right that as the Chairman of the infected blood inquiry said, interim compensation payments should be made, “without delay”.
