DAY 1
A really interesting first day with the East of England Ambulance Trust. The day started with meeting Community First Responders from all over Norfolk to hear their concerns and how the role could be supported further.
Supporting our CFR’s has been a major campaign for the last year, working alongside the excellent community response manager, Andrew Barlow. We have made good progress and I am looking forward to the proposals we’ve put forward in the upcoming Finance paper.
Then it was to the ‘make ready’ department seeing how everyday each ambulance is restocked and kitted out to be ready for operation.
During the afternoon I was in the HALO command centre at the NNUH and attended a call out in Dereham to take an elderly gentleman into hospital.
It has been a fascinating day of seeing just how hard these invaluable NHS teams work. Just one day has provided an invaluable insight and I am looking forward to being back tomorrow for a full day on the ambulances attending calls.
To everyone I met on day 1 - who imparted their knowledge and gave me so much of their valuable time, thank you and thank you so much for what you do, day in day out. A special thank you to Mark Little and Andrew Larby at Longwater for all their generosity.
