Speaking today in the Westminster Hall debate regarding pensions.
Whilst auto enrolment has been a great success in getting people into the habit of saving for their retirement, there are just too many cases where people don’t realise that there is help and advice for a free service to help you make pension choices when you turn 50. I was calling for ‘auto appointments’ a proposal for Pension Wise appointments, as recommended by the Work and Pensions Committee. I bet hardly anyone would know what the Pension Wise service is? Would they know it’s a government backed service with the offer of free, impartial guidance to over 50s. Would they know someone can advice you of the options of what you can do with your pension pot? Probably not…. so we should be promoting this service far more to help people.
