📢 IN ACTION: speaking yesterday on the important role I hope Post Offices will play in future high street banking services.
🏦 We've seen for a while now that all major national banks are shutting branches right across the country. Because of this, people need to know that somehow they can access direct personal banking services.
🤝 One way to achieve this is through the creation of banking hubs. However, the current regulations for offering these are extremely strict. Nowhere in North Norfolk currently qualifies for this service. This is something I'm working tirelessly to fix, to ensure our towns and villages have nothing but the best when it comes to service provision.
📫 The other important service here is of course the Post Office which deals with day-to-day deposit services in the absence of a local bank branch. Because of this, I once again urged the Minister yesterday that local Post Offices need to be properly invested in, and prepared for added demand in the future.
👍 There is no reason why the well-respected institution of the Post Office could form the back bone of future High Street banking operations.
