Over the past few years, Cllr Judy Oliver (County Councillor for Sheringham) has worked tirelessly to secure a new roundabout at the A148/Holway Road junction. This project has now taken another important step forward.
Though Covid-19 continues to dominate our everyday lives, work also continues on other projects of benefit to our communities in North Norfolk. The Sheringham Gateway Project aims to situate a new roundabout at the notoriously dangerous A148/Holway Road junction just outside Sheringham. Not only will this have a major impact on road safety and reduce traffic flow on surrounding minor roads (particularly through Upper Sheringham), but it will also improve access to Sheringham for visitors to the town's many tourist attractions, including the North Norfolk Railway, the Mo, and the new Splash! leisure centre. Once the Covid-19 crisis is behind us, this greater accessibility will provide a huge boost to the town's shops, leisure, and hospitality businesses.
Cllr Judy Oliver has been working hard on this project over a number of years, and Norfolk County Council is now inviting letters of support for the roundabout project. I am pleased to offer my support and will be working with Judy to do whatever we can to bring this project to a successful conclusion.
For those using text readers, the letter can be downloaded from the 'Attachments' section below.
