A HAMMER BLOW WITH TWO LLOYDS BANK BRANCHES TO CLOSE IN NORTH NORFOLK
Lloyds recently announced another significant number of branch closures around the country. Another 39 will shut and I am extremely saddened to be informed that both their North Walsham and Cromer branches will be included, shutting later this year.
When I took the call, I expressed how disappointed I was in the decision and how yet again it would seem that corporate social responsibility means very little in the modern world to our banks. I was told outright that there will be no consultation and no consideration of a mobile service or community space for residents to use. Instead residents will be directed to use the Post Office on a day to day basis.
The nearest remaining Lloyds branches will now be in Fakenham or Norwich, well over 20 miles away. I will not just stand by and watch all our towns become void of banking services. People across rural areas like North Norfolk depend on a physical presence in their communities, especially with our many older residents. I have publicly written to Lloyds and will now meet with LINK to see what help they can be.
To help try and stop this, I am running a petition to collect data on the importance of retaining these two branches - if you could spend just a few minutes filling out the below survey, it will give me a strong base to push back from in terms of how this affects you.
Your views are so important - please help me ensure that they are heard loud and clear. I will be online to help answer your queries today.
